UNDERSTANDING THE TOPIC
Classroom conduct and decorum create positive and effective learning between educators and students. In addition, for classroom conduct and decorum educators may follow general strategies to develop in class. First, define and distribute policies at the start of the term, and this explains that students are more civil when given the opportunity to develop their own rules. For that reason, it is necessary for educators to be firm at the beginning with all the rules and later relax the policies that they imposed. Another strategy is emphasizing the value of civility, and it helps students see the effect of their actions on others. This strategy helps students be more responsible for maintaining norms. Last but not least is to set a good example. Researchers have identified faculty behaviors that set a negative tone for students and affect their academic and intellectual development; for example, inadequate preparation, poor in-class interactions with students, lack of integrity, and repeatedly arriving late, running overtime, or ending class early.
On the other hand, it's important for a teacher to have a good handling of Incivilities since the teacher must know the attitudes of his students and how to solve them. For this reason, empathy must be shown toward the feelings of the students, always trying to handle the misconduct of some students within the class, such as talking with them, and having meetings with them in private where the teacher can talk about important issues without the student noticing. feel judged by the rest of the group. On the other hand, it is also good for the teacher to seek help from his superior when seeing that the misconduct of the students crosses the line of respect. and finally, it is good that each teacher knows the area where he works to know how students with misbehavior are handled.
In addition, as
teachers, we have to know to teach in Times of Crisis and Tragedy since schools
are prone to experience natural disasters, terrorist attacks, or the death of a
classmate. In this case, the teacher must be sure of how to act before these
situations, since the student will feel confident returning to his classroom
or, on the contrary, he will feel afraid and frustrated knowing that his
teacher cannot handle crises. So, it is good to know how to respond to the
different situations that arise according to the type of group that the teacher
is in charge of.
